Historical RPG set in Medieval Europe

Mount & Blade With Fire and Sword is a role playing game (RPG) set in Medieval Eastern Europe, and is a standalone version of a popular mod of the original game. The game is mainly about aristocracy, intrigue and war.

As with most RPGs, you begin as a fairly insignificant man, and then happen upon some soldiers who will help you out. They give you a mission, and the story of Mount & Blade With Fire and Sword begins to unfold. The story seems pretty spartan, but the actual gameplay is pretty good.

Mount & Blade With Fire and Sword gives players a great deal of freedom. You travel from town to town as you like, looking for influential people who need your help, and therefore increase your influence and power in the game. Mercenaries will begin to help you out, giving you increased security and strength. Eventually you'll control towns and cities, with the aim of dominating the whole world of Mount & Blade With Fire and Sword.

The gameplay is a mix of real time strategy and third person action, and there is enough to keep you busy for hours. However, many of the missions are similar to the those in the original Mount & Blade. The graphics don't really stand up to current generation RPGs, and much of the sound is lifted from the first game.

Mount & Blade With Fire and Sword is an interesting RPG based on real history, but it feels a little outdated, and needs more polish to be the definitive article.
